Key Steel
Available in square and flat bars in 3m lengths.
Key steel is equivalent to EN6 – EN8.
It is a medium carbon un-alloyed steel that is tougher and stronger than mild steel, but still fairly easy to machine.
Key Steel is drawn to tighter tolerances than normal bright EN8.
Bright Mild Steel
Available in square and flat bars in 3m lengths.
Bright Mild steel is cold dawn, which enables it to withstand higher levels of stress when compared to normal mild steel.
Bright Mild steel also provides more accurate size and straightness tolerances as well as a much cleaner surface than normal Mild steel.
Gauge Plate
Available in square and flat bars in 500mm or 1000mm lengths.
Supplied fully annealed, gauge plate is precision ground to close tolerances, enabling finished components to be produced with the minimum of machining.
Gauge Plate or Ground Flat Stock is heat treatable to a high hardness, and possesses good hardenability with excellent dimensional stability and resistance to wear.
Bright EN8
Available in square, flat and hexagon bars in 3m lengths.
EN8 is an unalloyed medium carbon steel which is used in applications where better properties than mild steel are required.
EN8 can be heat treated to provide a good surface hardness and moderate wear resistance by flame or induction hardening processes.
Silver Steel
Available in round bar in 1m or 2m lengths.
Silver Steel is supplied in an annealed state to ensure machinability. The high carbon content aids in the hardenability of the material, while the chromium content adds to its strength and hardness after heat treatment. It is precision ground – which reduces the need for machining the finished part.
Silver Steel is a popular type of tool steel with many applications.
